- Client Integral
- Location Shirebrook
- Project value £260,000
- Completion date March 2025
A post office banking hub, also known as a "banking hub" or "community banking hub," is a facility located within a post office that provides essential banking services. These hubs are designed to serve communities—particularly those in rural or underserved areas—where traditional bank branches have closed or where access to financial services is limited. Their purpose is to ensure that everyone continues to have access to basic banking support.
The Solution
SOLJET was commissioned by Cash Access UK, on behalf of Integral, to transform a former Lloyds Bank in Shirebrook’s Market Place into a new community banking hub. The 95m² facility was reconfigured to include five distinct areas, featuring glazed meeting rooms, security offices, an accessible WC, and a staff kitchenette. SOLJET also undertook work in the mothballed sections of the property, along with external upgrades to all building elevations.

Summary
The project involved the isolation and complete strip-out of existing walls, partitions, and ceilings, along with the demolition necessary to reconfigure mothballed areas in accordance with current building regulations. New mechanical and electrical systems were installed, including lighting, small power, data infrastructure, specialist low-voltage distribution, HVAC, hot and cold water services, and other specialist outlets.
The internal fit-out included new ceilings, flooring, and partition walls to create designated rooms in line with the updated fire strategy plan. A secure office featuring reinforced partitioning was constructed, as well as a fully glazed meeting room with a security door to support future banking hub services.
The project was successfully delivered within the eight-week timeframe outlined at contract initiation and came in under budget, thanks to value engineering and time-saving solutions proposed by SOLJET.
